Resource Guide will Bridge Information Gap for Older Adults Colorado Springs, CO-On February 5, 2007, the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG) began distributing over 18,000 copies of the 2007 Yellow Book: Senior Information and Assistance Directory. Now in its 40th year of publication, the Yellow Book offers information on 600 services for older adults in El Paso, Park and Teller counties. From elder abuse and adult day care to home delivered meals and legal services, older adults and their caregivers will find provider listings, descriptions of services, and contact information. For a copy of the Yellow Book, contact Eileen Porubsky at (719) 471-7080 ext 111. Mike Decker, Director of PPACG's Area Agency on Aging, said of the guide, "The 2007 edition of the Yellow Book is the most complete, up-to-date and accurate resource directory of its kind in Colorado. We hope it can help fill the information gap for older adults and their families who need services and serve as a link to our own Senior Information and Assistance Center and Family Caregiver Support Programs." PPACG serves as the state designated Area Agency on Aging for El Paso, Park and Teller counties. The agency administers programs and services funded through the federal Older Americans Act and the State of Colorado to give older adults what they most desire-the ability to live independently in their own homes and avoid costly institutionalization. Formed in 1967, PPACG is a voluntary organization of municipal and county governments serving a regional community. PPACG provides a forum for local officials to work across political jurisdictions to identify regional opportunities and challenges, develop solutions, and make recommendations on collaborative strategies. Major programs areas include transportation, the environment, economic development, military impact, the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority, and the Area Agency on Aging. For more information, please visit www.ppacg.org. Note: The Town of Monument has a copy for citizen review. |
